A reflection of the technology, ingenuity and culture of its time, art deco is a design movement from the mid 1920s to late 1930s. One of the finest architectural examples of the art deco period is William Van Alen’s Chrysler Building.

The skyscraper’s sleek soaring lines and features race toward the sky while periodically pausing to celebrate its unique design elements. Bold details such as a modern interpretation of Aztec sunbursts, radiator cap gargoyles and automobile grilles skillfully and playfully adorn the building. The cap of the structure also points continually upward and outward as if striving toward even greater opportunities to come, reflecting an eternal optimism.

Our 29th annual original art work was designed as a collaboration of the entire App Architecture staff. Each individual contributed their unique perspective and concepts for the design, which inspired this stylized and playful representation of one of architecture’s most recognizable buildings.

Our hope and prayers for this holiday season are that we all take time to pause and celebrate life’s journey, reflect on the special moments and memories of this past year and eagerly anticipate the many opportunities awaiting us.
